The First Shall Be Last

Our Lord talking to followers

This is an image of Jesus Christ teaching His disciples, by early-modern painter, Jacques James Tissot.

In the painting, the Savior stands in a circular patch of sand facing His disciples, who sit in a semi-circle in front of Him.

The Divine Master has pale skin, red hair, and a beard. He wears a white robe, a white cloak, and sandals. He looks at the disciples while raising His right index finger.

The disciples sit on low, long slabs of white stone, listening to the Savior. There are eight disciples sitting on the stone slabs. One disciple sits on the ground at the left side of the front of the painting.

The disciples wear robes of various shades of white, blue, orange, and yellow. Most of them wear head-coverings.

There are bright green palms behind the disciples.
