This is a portrait of Saint Thomas Aquinas, by Crivelli.
The saint is depicted as a man of about fifty years of age. He has olive skin, green eyes, and a ring of dark brown hair around his head.
St. Thomas wears the traditional Dominican habit, consisting of a white habit and a black hooded cloak. On the saint’s chest is a large, oval, golden clasp, which is surrounded by light. St Thomas looks upwards and to his right side while holding a large, open book with his left hand. Resting on the saint’s right hand is the model of a stone church. A gold halo surrounds the saint’s head. Behind the halo, on the background of the painting, are some gold patterns, which appear to be painted on stone.
