Holy Euphemia – Zurbaran

Saint Euphemia is a Byzantine martyr from Chalcedon, who suffered torture and died for her faith under the Roman Emperor Diocletian, in the late third or early fourth century. Euphemia endured various tortures, from which God delivered her, until she was thrown to a wild beast, and met her eternal reward. Artwork by F. Zurbaran
