This artwork by James Tissot depicts Jesus entering the cave in which Lazarus is buried, calling the man from the dead. Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, sit in the tomb, staring with wide eyes at their brother emerging from the ground, still wrapped in his white burial cloths. Other Jews stare at the risen Lazarus from behind Christ. This miracle of Jesus is recounted in John 11:41-45.
